WOMEN IN THE MILITARY

........."Women were not officially recognized until 1948.."

Having women admitted into a military is an ongoing issue in many countries. For the United States, sperate military services were established in 1942 but were not officially recognized until 1948 when President Truman signed the Woman's Armed Services Integration Act. Today, 70 percent of military positions are open to women, who make up around 16 percent of the active army.
